Documents legalization — what should you know about it

In the majority of cases for a document to be accepted as official and valid abroad, it needs to be legalized first. At the same time not many people are aware of the legalization requirements and waste a lot of time in search for information.

Arte.doc offers free over the phone consultations in relation to the legalization of documents and this way helps saving a lot of time and trouble to the people decided to travel abroad with their legalized documents and those who need to submit a foreign document before Bulgarian authorities in order to certify significant facts of their life.

Before choosing an agency which to entrust with your legalization order, make sure you know the following about the agency:

  • if it has contract with MFA of Bulgaria;
  • what is the experience it has in the field of this service;
  • what and who are its clients;
  • if the service it offers is complete;
  • if it has its own courier.

Here are the most important things you need to know before turning for help to an agency:

  • Before submitting a document for legalization, make certain that the institution you need it for requires legalization.
  • Only translators, approved by Bulgaria's MFA are qualified to perform official translations and only a translation of an original document or its certified copy can be legalized, also declarations and powers of attorney can be legalized only after the signature on them is certified before a notary personally by the person, who signed the document
  • Official translations of documents are set on a company headed paper, certified with the translator's signature and the agency's stamp. The persons' names are written as in their ID, and the companies' and organizations' names are written according to the official transliteration rule applying in Bulgaria
  • If a Bulgarian citizen needs certification of document while abroad, they can certify their documents in the Bulgarian embassy on the territory of the country they are currently in.
