Stated like that, one might think that with the word processing software available today there is no much use of a human proofreader. There are also cases of misused words that go unnoticed by the program.

It is a vital part of the translation process that ensures that the translated text reads smooth in the target language and is of the required quality. Editor works mainly with the terminology and style of the text, making sure facts are verified and translation follows the source text.
