INTRODUCING OUR NEW COLLEAGUE ALEXANDRINA IVANOVA

My name is Alexandrina Ivanova and I will be a translator at translation and legalization agency arte.doc. I have graduated from an English and American Studies programme at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", where I am currently completing my Master's degree as well, in the programme of "Translation". During my translation training I learned a lot about the theory and practice of translation. That, however, was done at a training environment that can never provide what could be learned through professional practice.

Currently, there are probably dozens of translation agencies in Sofia, but what pointed me towards arte.doc was above all the company's good reputation and the fact that it is among the large companies on the market, providing stability and security for its employees.

Personally, to me, one of the most important things I like about arte.doc is the friendly and united atmosphere in each of the offices. I think that is most important for a team's good work. Of course, conflicts arise of various nature, but it is exactly because of the loyal relations between the colleagues that those conflicts are solved quickly and efficiently.

Apart from that, here, I have the opportunity to put everything learned at the university to practice and to further develop my practical skills regarding translation of different text types, for example, economic, legal, medical, etc.

During the last three months I figured out how to put my knowledge from the university to practice. I also learned what cannot be learned there and I am grateful I have the chance to work with kind, friendly professionals. I think that arte.doc is the right place for me to grow as a translator.

1. I wanted to become an intern at translation and localization agency arte.doc because...?
What got my attention was that arte.doc is a company that believes in young translators and tries to support them in their first steps into the professional area. I also believed that such internship would build a very good foundation and work discipline for me. To my luck, all that turned out to be completely true.

2. What did I learn during my internship?
During my internship I learned how responsible the translator's profession is. I also learned that for successful work it is crucial that all employees are not just proven professionals in their respective field, but also able to work well together.

3. What did I achieve during my internship?
I think the most important thing I learned during my internship is work discipline. I also developed skills for coping with work assignments in short deadlines, which will certainly be of use to me in future.
